The trip to Santorini can be arranged either by ferry boat or by plane (1 hour journey). BLUE STAR Ferries run a daily scheduled trip that departs from Piraeus 07.30 am stops at the islands of Paros, Naxos, Ios and arrives at Santorini 14.50. Accommodation is suggested in the aircraft seats lounge but cabin berths are also available at an extra cost.
The port of Athinio is roughly 15min from Fira, the capital town of the island, connected by bus or local taxis.
The cost of the accommodation on the island for 2006, ranges from 25.00 euros per person in a 2 star double bedroom with breakfast to between 40.00 - 50.00 euros in a 3/4 star hotel in Fira. The price of the room depends on the view from the hotel. Accommodation facing the caldera charge extra compared to the hotels without view.
